Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions regarding professional carpet, rug and upholstery cleaning.
How often should I have my carpets, rugs and upholstery cleaned?
Most carpet and furniture manufacturers recommend that carpets are professionally cleaned every 12-18 months. Leaving long periods between professional cleaning appointments will result in the build up of significant soling and grit that acts as an abrasive, reducing the lifespan of your furnishings.
What are the differences between the various cleaning methods?
All cleaning methods have their merits. Rather than following any particular dogma, we use the best method that will get you the best results. Different types of carpets and upholstery may require different approaches, machinery and chemicals. But generally, the HWE method is our preferred choice of cleaning (and is the method recommended by most manufacturers). The most important point, is that your carpets are thoroughly cleaned and all moisture and chemicals extracted efficiently. We use a petrol-powered truckmount that achieves this far better than cheaper portables that most companies use.
How long will it take my carpets and upholstery to dry?
Drying time can depend on the power of machinery used and the level of soiling, ventilation and overall weather conditions – our general guideline is to allow 1-2 hours for your carpets to be bone dry. Ultimately, the quality of workmanship and equipment used is the key to fast drying times – and we’ve got that covered for you!
Will all the stains come out of my carpets and upholstery?
Although we cannot guarantee that all stains will be removed, our training, experience, and the quality of our equipment gives us the best possible chance of removing any particularly stubborn stains. There are some stains that prove irreversible (particularly if you have attempted to treat yourself with a shop bought stain remover!), but we will advise where this may prove to be the case. In many cases we are able to offer a separate service to re-colour permanent stains.
Do I have to move my furniture?
Our price includes moving your furniture when required to do so – and replacing carefully. The only thing we ask of you, is that you place any valuable and delicate items / ornaments out of the cleaning area if necessary. There may also be some very heavy items that are not practical to move, but this can be discussed prior to commencement of the work.
